A message from Denise Brown,
Chairman of the Board

We at The Nicole Brown Charitable Foundation pledge our time, our energy and our voices in an effort to educate the national and international communities to the dangers of family and partner violence. We help organizations that shelter and protect families in crisis, support long term solutions and work with educational programs specializing in rehabilitation and job training. We will continue our work until family and partner violence is eradicated.

Family and partner violence is a national epidemic. It has no religious, political, age, gender, sexual or social boundaries. It knows no boundaries. That is why The Nicole Brown Charitable Foundation Board, staff and volunteers focus on six critical efforts:

  1. Response to victims.
  2. Education and Awareness.
  3. Legislative Initiatives.
  4. Local and National Programs.
  5. Events.
  6. Our vision of Today - NICOLE'S HOUSE.
Our founding pledge in 1994, to help shelter and protect families caught in the crisis of family violence, remains strong. Since our inception, The Foundation has donated almost $300,000.00 to shelters and educational programs across the country. Since December 2000 the foundation changed its focus and is no longer a granting foundation.

Our response to victims also includes fielding hundreds of calls from victims and their families seeking help. These callers are referred to national hotlines, shelters and /or counseling centers across the country. In addition to that, we send out informational packages to anyone who requests literature on a wide range of topics from myths and facts about domestic violence, warning signs of teen dating, cycles of violence with children to batterer treatment programs. Individuals caught in the legal spokes of the system of both family and criminal law are often referred to an advocacy group who helps walk them through the system.

Long Term Solutions
The second initiative of equal importance is that of increasing awareness and educating the public. Hard as it may seem, domestic violence is still a subject many people think does not exist. Since domestic violence knows no boundaries, it has literally taken the various members of The Foundation around the world. Over the years, they traveled thousands of miles in their efforts to educate, raise awareness or support legislation. They are often called to speak at schools, hospitals, corporate venues, prisons, universities and shelters. They have been on judges panel, workshops, conferences, radio, television and even in front of Congress in an effort to make sure the message gets out that there is no excuse for abuse.

The Foundation also works with programs across the country and includes them in presentations nationwide. Programs such as VINE, Call to Protect, Hands are not for Hitting, and Neighborhood Watch are a few of these programs. From Australia to Alaska and back again - there are no boundaries to our commitment.
